Équité Association’s Angel Yau-Vandenburg, Chief Data & Technology Officer, and Betty Ng, Director, Investigative Services, Ontario, have been named to Insurance Business Canada’s list of Elite Women 2026. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the list of Elite Women recognizes leaders who are breaking through barriers and inspiring those around them.
Awards and recognition such as this showcase Équité’s inclusive and purpose-driven culture as we continue to progress towards reducing and preventing insurance crime and its impacts on honest, hardworking Canadians.
Angel leads the strategy, design, development, and implementation of ÉQ Insights, Canada’s first consortium-based national fraud detection and analytics platform. Équité is setting a new standard for collaboration across insurers, investigators, and law enforcement to combat insurance crime with data-driven investigations. ÉQ Insights is a groundbreaking initiative that not only represents a major technical achievement but also a critical contribution to protecting Canadians and locking fraud out of the insurance industry.
Outside of her professional role, Angel stands out as an inspiring role model and leader. She has proudly represented Team Canada for the past three years as a National Powerlifting Champion and holds multiple provincial records. On the global stage, she earned the 2024 Bench World Champion title and secured a bronze medal at the 2025 IPF World Bench Press Championships in Norway.
Betty leads collaboration efforts among Équité’s member insurers, law enforcement agencies, and industry stakeholders to drive meaningful change in Ontario. With decades of experience in the insurance industry, Betty is a consistent voice for the member insurers, effectively representing their interests in discussions with local and provincial law enforcement.
Beyond her role, Betty volunteers on the board of directors for the Canadian Association of Special Investigations Units (CASIU) to support its mission to combat insurance fraud through education and training, and by developing a greater awareness of insurance crime.
