Heather Masterson is President and CEO of Équité Association, Canada’s national authority on insurance crime and fraud prevention. Équité combats insurance crime that takes advantage of vulnerable Canadians through advanced analytics, intelligence best practices and coordinated investigations. Working with law enforcement, industry and other partners, Équité helps protect Canadians and strengthen the integrity of the insurance system.

From 2016 to 2026, Heather served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers Canada, leading the organization’s strategic direction and driving financial and operational excellence. During her tenure, she fostered a high-performing culture and workplace while leading a transformational journey to deliver premier broker services and enhance the customer experience.

Prior to Travelers, Heather was President and CEO of Totten Insurance Group.

Heather is Past Chair of the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Insurance Institute of Canada Board of Governors. She is also a past Board Director of GISA and PACICC and continues to serve on the Board of Équité in her role as CEO.

In February 2026, Heather received the prestigious Insurance Institute of Canada Award of Merit, recognizing her longstanding leadership and significant contributions to the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry. The award also recognized her commitment to mentoring the next generation of insurance professionals, advancing professional education and standards, and contributing to the broader insurance community.

In 2024, Heather was recognized as one of Insurance Business Canada’s Elite Women for her leadership, mentorship and contributions to the Canadian insurance industry. She also served as Event Chair for the 2024 Women in Insurance Canada Summit.

Heather was named to the Global Business Insurance Top 100 list in 2020, 2021 and 2023 and received Insurance Business Canada’s Woman of Distinction Award in 2018. She was the recipient of the HUB International Chairman’s Award in 2014 and was an honouree of the 2013 Business Insurance Women to Watch Award.

Heather was an inaugural member and Global Ambassador of the Insurance Supper Club in Canada, an executive forum for women in insurance. She is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Brain Health Initiative.

Karrina Dusablon brings 25 years of insurance experience in business development, client relationships and member communications. Before joining Équité Association, she worked for two large insurance companies, and most recently led a law firm. Karrina is a collaborative leader, bringing expertise in developing and implementing strategic communication plans that maximize business growth, and employee/member engagement.

Karrina believes in lifelong learning, building strong relationships and giving back to the community. It is an essential part of her philosophy towards work and life. It fuels innovation, progress and passion – when you embrace growth, you are investing in not only your future but the individuals that surround you.

Karrina was nominated as one of the Avantages’ (Benefits Canada) Top 30 Industry Personalities in 2019 in the field of insurance. A sought-after industry speaker, with exceptional relationship management and communication skills, Karrina inspires and motivates teams to embrace change and achieve results. She has a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, majoring in Industrial Relations with a focus on management, economics, and industrial sociology.

Bryan Gast brings 30 years of experience in law enforcement, including a posting as Detective Inspector in the Criminal Investigation Branch with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). His experience includes 19 years in the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch managing/investigating all facets of insurance fraud investigations, corporate fraud investigations, identity theft investigations, health care fraud investigations and other complex criminal investigations.  

Bryan recognizes the importance of stakeholder collaboration in the fight against fraud and strives to build and maintain partnerships.

Previously, Bryan has served as the National Director of Investigative Services at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. He was the Unit Commander of the OPP Anti-Rackets Economic Crimes and Corruption Unit, and Unit Commander of the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch Provincial Identity Crimes Unit.

Kevin brings over 25 years of leadership experience in financial services, transportation, and economic development to his role at Équité Association.

Prior to joining the organization, Kevin led a team responsible for workplace strategy and transformation at Metrolinx. He also held various executive roles at TD, demonstrating a strong track record in the financial sector. As an innovative leader, he excels at generating value through strategic transformational initiatives leveraging a unique combination of vision and change management expertise to optimize operational effectiveness. Kevin’s passion lies in developing the next generation of leaders through coaching and mentorship.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Economics, Finance & Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Angel brings over 20 years of experience in fraud and risk management, strategy and analytics. She has led key initiatives including implementation of a suite of advanced analytics along with third party technology solutions to proactively detect and prevent financial crimes, and insurance crime. Most recently, Angel was a senior leader at Aviva Canada where she successfully led a team in developing and implementing data driven identification of fraud through advanced analytics.

Angel is a strong believer in the balance of art and science, which drives key successes and achieves goals. 

Angel holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics & Statistics from the University of Guelph. She serves as a youth leader at her local church, and, Angel is a competitive powerlifter at the international level.
