TORONTO, ON – December 10, 2025 – As the winter snow begins to fall and the festive season approaches, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada (“Allstate Canada”) and Équité Association are partnering through their ‘Put the Freeze on Fraud’ campaign to raise awareness of concerning insurance fraud trends. Together, they strive to help empower and educate people to recognize the signs of insurance fraud and crime, to keep Canadians safe and secure this holiday season.
Through an online campaign, Équité and Allstate Canada are combining their trusted expertise to assist Canadians with easy-to-understand tips to proactively avoid common insurance fraud schemes, ensuring safer roads and a more secure winter for drivers and their communities.
“Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime; its chilling consequences inflict real physical, emotional, and financial harm on honest, hardworking Canadians,” says Betty Ng, Director, Investigative Services, Équité Association. “Our mission is to combat this crime, and a crucial step is to build awareness to educate and protect the public. When we empower Canadians to recognize and report fraud, we help secure our communities and ensure the insurance system remains strong and fair for everyone.”
Équité combats insurance crime on behalf of its members, including Allstate Canada. This critical work involves extensive collaboration with law enforcement, industry partners, and key organizations to ensure Canadians are protected from exploitation.
Claims adjusters are becoming more adept at detecting fraud with modern, sophisticated tools and training. In 2025, Allstate Canada has escalated more suspicious cases to the investigation stage as part of a commitment to strengthen the integrity of its claims system, build trust with its customers, and help control costs. Fraud avoidance is a critical part of maintaining a fair and balanced insurance sector.
The top insurance fraud trends highlighted in this collaboration are premeditated fraud and auto repair fraud. Both types of fraud have a strong organized crime element, with the money resulting from these crimes funding other illegal and illicit activities including guns and drugs.
Beginning this week, Canadians will be able to find timely winter-themed fraud awareness content on social media and on Équité’s website, which Allstate Canada will help amplify to audiences inside and outside the insurance sector.
